Constructive Anger

mental performance Sep 23, 2024

This idea applies whether you are a fighter, tennis player, or anything…

I was working with a coaching client of mine who is a high school tennis player, and I was explaining to him the role of anger and drawing the line between getting angry and getting angry with yourself.

Basically, anger can be used in a constructive manner. This using the energy to gather your focus and concentrate further on the task at hand.

You are being a strict and stern coach to yourself at this point, but you aren\’t being hard on yourself or putting yourself down. That is the fine line and the difference between constructive anger and destructive anger.

The latter will get you out of focus completely and even throw you into despair. Then you must start all over again, concentration-wise.

Remember, anger is neither good nor bad. It\’s simply energy and learning how to harness it is constructively make you a more effective and successful person.
